Moonstone SuperYacht

Billionaire superyacht owners are always looking to one-up each other with extravagant amenities, but this is one luxury vessel that will truly allow them to stand out – especially at night.

MOONSTONE-Superyacht-Project-4

Designed by Oceanco, a custom yacht builder based in Alblasserdam, Netherlands, and Amsterdam firm Van Geest Design, the innovative concept yacht, called Moonstone, features a ‘twinkling’ hull that reflects the water in sunlight and puts on an LED light show in darkness with 600 triangles that illuminate.

Oceanco said the design was inspired by moonstone, a gemstone which embodies energy, purity and unity. The firm said: ‘Among its many touted properties, a moonstone is known as the psychic’s gemstone. The stone has a luminous sheen and colours of light dance through it.

Unveiled at the 2016 Dubai International Boat Show in March, the yacht features an entire owner’s deck, a large gymnasium and spa area, a sky deck lounge with 360-degree panoramic views, accommodation for 14 guests and 29 crew members, and space for personal watercraft and a mini-submarine.

In addition to the stunning visual display, the 90-metre (295ft) yacht boasts an infinity pool with dimmable lights, a hot tub, cinema and a touch-and-go helipad to ferry the owner and guests between the nearest airport and sea.

The superyacht also includes  70-square-meters of standard solar panels on top of the superstructure that will illuminate and dim the panels for approximately three hours at night.  Scenes can be projected onto overhead panels thanks to a series of fish-eye cameras that can capture the night sky, a sunrise or sunset or their reflection on the water.

‘The elegant lines and faceted hull suggest a hypnotic glamour, just as one see in the multiple surfaces of a finely cut precious stone.

The lighting design features include a backlit surface of the overhead panel, which is linked to fish-eye cameras, allowing the choice of mood and ambiance. The hull side facets include customized panel lights as well, triggered individually dimmable white triangles per hull side, making every night a magical one.

Furthermore, even the swimming pool and hot tub feature innovative lighting systems, where the lights of the walls of the pool can be dimmed, generating a welcoming glow.

This beautiful toy was meant for the ‘big boys’, and will carry along a matching price-tag.
