This New 262-Foot Superyacht Was Designed to Look Like a Floating Volcano

Design studio M51 has released designs of a 262-footer ice-class superyacht concept named Forge.

The new 262-footer, Forge, was inspired by an active volcano and is designed to look like Mount Vesuvius on the high seas. The vessel’s ice-class steel hull is topped with a pointy pyramid-shaped aluminum superstructure finished in obsidian black, and a collection of angular decks colored bright orange.

Developed with all-weather and climate conditions in mind, Forge’s design is intended to embody the silhouette of a volcano on the water. This is realized by the pyramid-shaped superstructure in obsidian black and sharp angular orange decks.

M51 was created by Anthony Glasson, who spent over ten years as an engineer in the superyacht industry.

The concept features an interior volume of 1,750 GT with a 41-feet beam and an ice-class hull for safe and comfortable cruising in the polar regions. A hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system gives the concept a range of over 5,000 nautical miles – capable of crossing the Atlantic.

The distinctive design allows for vaulted ceilings in the sky lounge and a private panoramic glass ceiling on the upper deck in the master cabin, allowing for guests to stargaze in bed.

The interior features high-quality natural materials with modern, elegant styling to counter the bold exterior. Glasson says the interior has been kept quite simple to counter the bold exterior, but you can expect a range of natural materials and elegant contemporary furnishings throughout.

As you would expect, Forge is brimming with luxury amenities. A fully equipped gym and sauna, as well as a gimbal-mounted sensory deprivation tank, caters to all lifestyle and wellbeing desires, while a large full beam tender/toy garage with port and starboard hull doors has ample space for storing all leisure accessories.

There is also an expansive walk-around bridge deck equipped with a “molten staircase” that leads to a counter-current swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, a sauna, and a day lounge with fold-out balconies. Another highlight is the sensory deprivation tank, which can be a quiet refuge from the outside world. To top it off, there is a helipad for your chopper and a full-beam garage aft to house a full fleet of toys and tenders.

And the price?

The company is keeping the price under wraps, but yachts of equivalent size usually cost a fortune.
